Golden beauty at Kamakura

Good evening (or morning/afternoon)! Tonight’s photo is a close-up of a gate at the Kencho-ji temple in Kamakura, Japan. I quite like this kind of ornamentation :)

Have a good night (or day)!

I Would Love to Hear from You!

    Kaiya

    wow!

Most of the Japanese art and architecture I've seen has been deeply rooted in minimalism, so when I come across the few places where the artists have gone all the way and done heavily ornamental work, it's absolutely delightful.

ありがとうございます!I’m glad you liked this one. The gate is designated as an Important Cultural Property in Japan. It’s a joy to photograph both the minimalist architecture as well as the highly ornate (ostentatious?) styles here. It’s the latter that is less common, as you said, so my eyes always pop out when I see them :) Someday I would like to see the interior of the Chuson-ji Temple in Hiraizumi, Iwate, Japan. I’m quite sure I will love it :)
